Poker Night

Like most vintage loving gals I like a good old-timey dress, but sometimes the night calls for a pair of comfortable denim pants. Poker night was one of those nights, and not to forgo my addiction to vintage, this 80's, Escada bolero was just the thing I reached for. It's deep browns and accentuated croupier shoulders were the perfect color and shape for a parlor game. I added the arrow brooch for a feminine offset, but I think it would have been just fine without. I'm totally in love with this waist coat, and it gets bonus points in my book for being an early Escada production: the tag reads "made in Western Germany". Powerful how the history of a vintage item can come up in so many different ways. Stranger still how a vintage item can document a change in history by merely footnoting it's place of production.
On a side note, I have a few designer pieces that will be making their way into the shop in late September, early October. Some names include Joseph Magnin, I.Magnin, Pendleton, Escada, Karl Lagerfield, and more.

Etsy Shop Update: California Girl

California has completely influenced my view on clothing, fashion, and certainly my vintage picks. For as long as I can remember, I've been drawn to shapes, colors and textures that are hippie at heart- I can't help it! I've always loved the freedom of expression, if not by color, then by hemline, darned it! These dresses are bright, and just the thing I love about owning a one-of-a-kind piece!

Etsy Sneak Preview: Part 1- Vintage Jaeger, Skirts Made in Great Britain

I'm a fan of modern companies who take retro designs into consideration when editing their catalog of new contemporary classics; take a chain-store like Anthropologie, for example. However, one British clothier and design house which has had creating vintage classics in their mission statement since their inception over 125 years ago, is Jaeger. Their cornerstone look has always been well tailored pieces, looks that are strikingly English and feel immediately classic. The collection of vintage separates that I will be slipping into the next few Iron Orchid Vintage Etsy postings are fabulous knitwear skirts of gauzy linen and lightweight wool blends: all vintage, all classic, and all with that desirable feel of old-standard luxury.
Here are some photos of a few basic, vintage skirts that will be going up in the shop tonight! Still to come more 70's and 80's colorful, solid basics (think teal, pink, purple, and navy), mini skirts and pencil skirts by Jaeger and Escada, as well as Cashmere Cardigans by I.Magnin and Bullock's. Hope you enjoy the previews.
