Plaid and Oxfords

Where did the week go? Yes, I'm ready for the weekend, and for some curl-up time on the couch with kitty, but I can't seem to stay indoors when the weather is so nice and sunny out. This dress, by Zara, has  a petticoat built into it, and the shades of heathered browns seemed to match these old favorite Oxfords of mine!

Day 16: A Vintage Waistcoat and Mixing Texture with Pattern

 

What I find the most daring and attractive about winter look-books is when stylists blend thick textures and patterns. I thought I'd try my hand with one of my favorite wool jackets from the shop,  a vintage silk blouse, and a (very!) full plaid skirt.

Day 13: Layering the Plaid Western Trench

 

Often, I find that when one wears denim it becomes the focal point of the outfit, the item that the rest of the outfit revolves around. I love wearing jeans- a good pair of jeans are a thing to covet, but today I wanted use the denim as a backdrop, something neutral that I could layer over for both comfort and warmth.

Day 12: 1950's Flannel Plaid Dress

 

Oh, cozy day! A reprieve from the rain came, so I get to share this beautiful flannel dress. I suppose I couldn't have asked for a better background than some cords of wood, since the dress is both flannel and plaid. I keep looking for more winter-friendly 1950's dresses, but they seem few and far between.  It's so comfortable that I do not want to take it off- not even for bed!
