Day 18: Beige and Earth Tones

When the weather gets cold, I always seem to put up a protest. I start looking at my summer dresses, wishing there was some way I could work them into my winter wardrobe. This dress is a semi-sheer, embroidered little thing, but when layered over the right under-dress, it hardly looks as summery as it should.

Day 2: Tickets to the Gun Show

A few years back I was on the hunt for a pair of tall, stove-pipe riding boots. I scoured every boot store, country western store and "bit & bridle" sale hoping I would find the pair I had in mind. I never found the boots, but I did pick up this amazing belt buckle. Bonus points, it's got a built in bottle opener on the back!

Day 18: Color Blocks on a Cloudy Day

It's far from dress weather today, and I wanted to wear something cozy, yet chic. This ensemble is nearly entirely Akris Punto, a Swiss design house which produces the majority of their collection in Switzerland. Regrettably, I did not get a close-up of the silk blouse alone. You would just love the back-button styling, and the polka-dot/heart print. You can see a small sample of the print from the detachable collar that I photographed beside the handbag. The handbag, which is vintage 1990's Moschino, was the initial inspiration for today's look. It may be winter time, but I find that some bold and bright color-block classics look their best when in contrast with a cloudy or overcast day.
Outfit Details:
Vintage 1980's Blouse and Detachable Collar: Akris Punto
Vintage 1980's Cape: Akris Punto
Pants: Lux
Shoes: Made By Elves
Purse: Vintage 1990's Moschino
Daisy: Picked from the yard:)

The Herringbone Cape and Burgundy Tall Boots

There's been fresh rain everyday, and while everywhere else seems to be seeing winter, we're just getting around to the pretty parts of fall.  I promised myself that this year I would play more with both texture and pattern combinations. I picked up this cape while on a trip to Hollywood last year, and though it isn't vintage, it's draped cut and herringbone texture has a 70's charm to it.  I wish I caught a good photo of the mutton chop sleeves on the blouse - they are billowy, pleated, and totally bohemian-romantic. Somewhere, Jessica McClintock is weeping over the awesomeness of this full sleeve.
Herringbone Cape: Picked up last year on Melrose
Vintage 1980's Plaid Blouse: Vintage
Corduroy Skinny Pants: Hollister
